A highly practical course with relevant theoretical background enabling students to achieve a basic understanding of ultrasonic inspection. On completion of the course candidates will be able to calibrate a flaw detector with both compression and shear wave probes, record accurate thickness measurements and locate and size lamination in steel plate. In addition, students will be able to select the correct compression/shear wave probes for the examination of welded butt joints, locate and size defects and finally produce acceptable reports

This TOFD welds course provides detailed information on the inspection of ferritic steel welds by the ultrasonic time of flight diffraction method. Suitable for personnel with existing UT Certification in welds, and recognised by PCN, providing excellent preparation for the Level 1 and 2 examinations.

It meets the full training hour requirements as specified by the relevant PCN documentation. (Note: Level 1 requires a minimum of 40 hours’ training. Direct entry to Level 2 requires a minimum of 80 hours). The course utilises the latest Technology Design and Olympus TOFD equipment.

Special Note

It has been agreed by PDTC (ICorr) to add an experience assessment to all ICorr certifications for personnel engaged in painting and coating inspection. Full details of the changes can be provided on request.
