A highly practical course with relevant theoretical background enabling students to achieve a basic understanding of ultrasonic inspection. On completion of the course candidates will be able to calibrate a flaw detector with both compression and shear wave probes, record accurate thickness measurements and locate and size lamination in steel plate. In addition, students will be able to select the correct compression/shear wave probes for the examination of welded butt joints, locate and size defects and finally produce acceptable reports

This guidance course is aimed at the PCN Level 3 requirements for Ultrasonic Testing practitioners. The main objective of the course is to make candidates fully aware of the
scope of the examination and level of knowledge required. It will also enable candidates
to identify their weak subject areas. Advice will be given on any further tuition required.
Special Note
To be eligible for a PCN Level 3 Main Method certification a candidate must already hold a PCN Level 3 Basic certificate, if not they need to successfully complete the PCN Level 3 Basic examination prior to enrolling for any Level 3 Main Method examinations.
