A highly practical course with relevant theoretical background enabling students to achieve a basic understanding of ultrasonic inspection. On completion of the course candidates will be able to calibrate a flaw detector with both compression and shear wave probes, record accurate thickness measurements and locate and size lamination in steel plate. In addition, students will be able to select the correct compression/shear wave probes for the examination of welded butt joints, locate and size defects and finally produce acceptable reports

Ideal for experienced welding inspectors who hold approved weld inspector status in an appropriate certifying scheme, i.e. PCN or equivalent. The course is designed to review, reinforce and develop the additional subjects required for Weld Inspector Level 2 approval.
Special Note
Candidates must hold a relevant Weld Inspector approval and refer to the relevant certification documentation regarding all eligibility rules. We strongly advise that all candidates taking the 5 day course allow revision time before attempting the Weld Inspector Level 3 examination. This course does not include training relating to Radiographic Interpretation, other than an outline (ref: AR/RI2).
