PENETRANT TESTING - ONLINE
Penetrant method of non-destructive testing is dedicated to detecting surface defects invisible to the naked eye. It is based on use of capillary properties of liquids (namely, on capillary penetration of special indicator liquids inside defects).
This method reveals defects by forming an indication patterns on the surface of tested items. These patterns have high optical (luminance and color) contrast and width exceeding width of the defect opening.

Penetrant Testing: Level 1
Candidates will have the opportunity to use the various techniques on welds, castings and wrought products whilst gaining detailed theoretical and practical knowledge on all the commonly encountered penetrant testing techniques.

Penetrant Testing: Level 2
Candidates will have the opportunity to use the various techniques on welds, castings and wrought products whilst gaining detailed theoretical and practical knowledge on all the commonly encountered penetrant testing techniques.

Penetrant Testing: Level 3
This guidance course is aimed at the PCN Level 3 requirements for Penetrant Testing practitioners. The main objective of the course is to make candidates fully aware of the scope of the examination and level of knowledge required. It will also enable candidates to identify their weak subject areas. Advice will be given on any further tuition required.
Penetrant Testing: Level 1 Refresher Training
This is a short-term revision course intended to supplement the Dye Penetrant Testing Level 2 courses prior to examination. This course is suitable for refresher training towards both the PCN and ASNT recertification examinations.

Penetrant Testing: Level 2 (Online)
Unlike traditional training where students visit our Sheffield Training Centre for both theory and practical tuition, students have the option to take our course with the theory element completed online.
Candidates will have the opportunity to use the various techniques on welds, castings and wrought products whilst gaining detailed theoretical and practical knowledge on all the commonly encountered penetrant testing techniques.
Penetrant Testing: Level 3 (Online)
Penetrant Testing can also be referred to as Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) or Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI). It is a low cost inspection method used to reveal surface breaking defects, commonly used on materials such as metals, glass or plastics (providing they are not porous). LPI is used to detect casting, forging and welding surface defects, such as cracks, surface porosity or fatigues cracks on in service components, by the bleed-out of a coloured or fluorescent dye from the said defect.
