BASIC COMPUTER: Computer Concept

This topic explains all concepts related to computer in detail, from origin to end. The idea of computer literacy is also discussed, which includes the definition and functions of a computer. You learn about the components of a computer, the concept of hardware and software, representation of data/information, the concept of data processing and applications of IECT.


BASIC COMPUTER: Types of computer

All the computers that are developed are not alike rather they have different designs and features. Some computers have very high capacity as well as working speed; however, some are slow. Depending upon the requirements, computers are being developed. the relevant PCN documentation.





BASIC COMPUTER: Parts of computer

The computer case is the metal and plastic box that contains the main components of the computer, including the motherboard, central processing unit (CPU), and power supply. The front of the case usually has an On/Off button and one or more optical drives.

 




BASIC COMPUTER: Components of computer

The  classic components of a computer are described in this topic. Each component is discussed in more detail in its own section. The operation of the processor is best understood in terms of these components.








BASIC COMPUTER: Hardware

Computer hardware can be categorized as being either internal or external components. Generally, internal hardware components are those necessary for the proper functioning of the computer, while external hardware components are attached to the computer to add or enhance functionality.




BASIC COMPUTER: Software

Software comprises the entire set of programs, procedures, and routines associated with the operation of a computer system. The term was coined to differentiate these instructions from hardwarei.e., the physical components of a computer system.






BASIC COMPUTER: Monitor, Mouse and Keyboard

A keyboard contains many mechanical switches or push-buttons called “keys”. When one of these are pushed, an electrical circuit is closed, and the keyboard sends a signal to the computer that tells it what letter, number or symbol it would like to be shown on the screen. The computer then shows the character on the screen, usually at the place where the flashing text cursor is.

BASIC COMPUTER: Storage/Memory

Without a storage device, a computer would not be able to run or even boot up. Or in other words, we can say that a storage device is hardware that is used for storing, porting, or extracting data files. It can also store information/data both temporarily and permanently.





BASIC COMPUTER: CPU and Architecture

This course can be used in preparation for a PCN examination in Ultrasonic Testing but we would advise that candidates undertake further training relating to the specific sector they wish to certify in such as welds, forgings and castings.  





BASIC COMPUTER: Software programs

This course is a combination of the Ultrasonic Testing Introduction course with appropriate Ultrasonic Testing theory and practical training. This course is PCN recognised and provides excellent preparation for Ultrasonic Testing Level 1 examinations. It meets in full the training hour requirements as specified by the relevant PCN documentation.
